10 Things You
Can Do Now to Support
Barack Obama
1. Register to vote- It's easy, it's quick, and it's essential. For Barack Obama to win the nomination, NEW VOTERS will be key!
2. Donate to the campaign- $10 dollars isn't a lot until you multiply it by the millions of young people Obama has inspired.
3. Join the mailing list (and Obama's)- New opportunities, events, and news items arise every week. Stay informed by joining both mailing lists!
4. Contribute an essay to
Why Obama? - This project is probably the most exciting, personal, and tangible way to show your support for Obama. When it's
finished we hope to present a copy to Obama himself.
5. Talk to friends, family, and
fellow students- Your passion and excitement will be contagious. People will be intrigued to learn more about Barack Obama
and what he can do for our country.
6. Be a symbol of the cause via shirts, bumperstickers, etc.- For a few bucks, you can proudly let the world know who you want to be the next president.
7. Start an action group at your
school- Groups like this are essential to a political campaign. Organize on Facebook, gather signatures, spread the word.
8. Write an article/editorial for
your school/local newspaper- One of the keys to getting Obama elected is simply to allow people to get to know him and explain
why he would make a great president. Writing an article for the paper is a great way of doing this.
9. Buy and read The Audacity of Hope- As everyone knows who has read this book, it is well worth the time and money. It will also help you to understand
Obama in more depth---his views, his way of thinking, his personality. Obama is an excellent writer and this book is essential
for those supporting his campaign.
10. Keep
informed- This may seem to be a given, but your capacity to get the word out and influence others will be largely
contingent on what you know. The more you really understand of what's going on, the more you'll be able to convince others.
